While 2016 produced an epic vintage from 4 stellar seasons, the same can NOT be said about 2017. A dry, warm winter curated some early budding and a hail storm, followed by frost in Spring. This did not start the season off well. The heat continued through September putting pressure on the vines and grapes for most of the seasons resulting in a difficult vintage year. Ronchi was fortunate to miss the hail which caused major setback in production, however, the quality of the 2017 will be lighter in structure and color that you simply can not avoid with Mother Nature.
Barbaresco, produced from selected Nebbiolo grapes, has a ruby red colour that tends to garnet red with aging. Bouquet of jams and strong spices (tobacco and liquorice). Very long and lingering aftertaste. Soft and austere with aging. The Reserve is produced only in certain vintages.
