From a single vineyard 10 minutes south of Alba called Madonna di Como where the soil is a mix of calcareous marl with layers of blue/grey limestone; similar to the soils of eastern Barolo. Bright ruby with purple tints, this floral, yet structured wine demonstrates classic characteristics of Barbera d'Alba such as bright cherry, blueberry, and raspberries with hints of white pepper and mint. Soft and smooth tannins, coupled with vibrant acidity, showcase Barbera’s ability to be a highly celebrated wine. Aged 8 months in Slavonian Botti before being transported to Denver, CO, where the wine is barreled, then bottled.

Vineyard Notes
Soil is a mix of calcareous marl with layers of blue/grey limestone, Tortonian epoch Sant'Agata marl which is made of 30% sand, 55% clay, and 15% sandstone. Climate: hot summers and colder winters combined with well-drained soils provide the perfect conditions for Barbera.
Other Notes
Barbera is Italy’s fifth most planted grape, found almost in every corner of the country, however, Piedmont is considered its home. Revered for its deep red color, theorizing the origin of the name derives from barbaro, "barbarian".
